We began with a review meditation on sounds, breath, sensations, emotions, thoughts and vedana (pleasant, unpleasant, and neutral). Then we did a guided "Big Mind" meditation where awareness was like the open space of the sky through which things like clouds and stars appeared and disappeared. We then added the final piece of vipassana meditation - mindstates: liking/wanting, disliking/aversion, and confusion/wrong understanding. We were encouraged to observe not just what awareness felt and noticed but our mind's reaction to it. We then applied the more spacious awareness to our vipassana practice where the awareness was no longer focused on objects but remained open to notice all, including the mind.
