Introduction to Indian Civilization, UCLA -- Lecture of 13 January 2012. We continue in this lecture with the Indus Valley Civilization; the nature of this civilization, also known as Harappan Civilization. Some thoughts on Harappa and Mohenjo-daro, and the (thus far) undeciphered script of the Indus Valley. The seals and the figures depicted in such seals. The demise of the Indus Valley Civilization and the coming of the Aryans. The horse as an Aryan import in India; the creation of hierarchies with the coming of the horse. Then nature of the Rig Veda; its status in Indian thought, and some comparisons with the Koran.
