Extended content: - Explain the process of eutrophication of water, limited to: • increased availability of nitrate and other ions (e.g. phosphates), • increased growth of producers (algae), • increased decomposition after death of producers, • increased aerobic respiration by decomposers (bacteria), • reduction in dissolved oxygen (deoxygenation), • death of organisms requiring dissolved oxygen in water (e.g. fish).
