(b) lungs, limited to the pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein. (c) kidney, limited to the renal artery and renal vein. Extended content: - Explain how the structure of arteries and veins is related to the pressure of the blood that they transport. - Explain how the structure of capillaries is related to their functions. - Identify, in diagrams and images, the main blood vessels to and from the liver as: hepatic artery, hepatic veins and hepatic portal vein. Context: - In topic 9.1 we learned about the single circulation system of fish and the double circulation of mammals. - In topic 9.2 we examined the structures of the heart, including the coronary arteries, atria, ventricles, septum, atrioventricular and semilunar valves, and muscular walls (myocardium). - In topic 9.4 we'll learn about the four components of blood (plasma, platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells), the process of clotting and the functions of lymphocytes and phagocytes.
