This was the first time I tried free-shaping so I decided to record it. Fallon is 9 months old here and has not had any 'find heel' training.
In free-shape training, the dog is not given any verbal or physical cues such as arm movements except you are allowed to move around. This type of training forces the dog to try to figure out how to get you to mark them.
One thing I have learned about free-shaping is that some dogs will become very frustrated and and start barking. In that case, you have to walk away from the dog to demonstrate you will stop interacting with them until they calm down.
Only try free shaping in a room with no other people, pets, and close the window shades.
