Maps and graphs should be a match made in heaven. The world we live in is a connected one, and graphs can help us make sense of this world, whether we're optimizing a supply chain or investigating international crimes such as money laundering, trafficking, or sanctions evasion. So how come whenever you try and visualize graph data on a geospatial map, the user experience is at best underwhelming and, at worst, downright confusing? In this talk, Dan will review some of the most common UI/UX pitfalls encountered when trying to build front-end visualizations that involve both graphs and maps. Using a stack involving Neo4j, MapWeave, mapbox, and React, he will demonstrate a more effective approach. His example will fuse an open source (OSINT) company ownership knowledge graph with real-time maritime vessel tracking data,and answer questions such as: ""How do we visually convey geotemporal connections as part of a wider knowledge graph?"" and ""How do we turn complex AI-generated graph insights into simple, interactive narratives?""
