Diffraction grating feedback is used to tune a semiconducting diode laser. Fabry-Perot modes are established in both the internal resonator of the semiconducting die and in the external resonator of the diffraction grating. Quantitative example is included. The first part is theory. The demonstration begins at 16:46 The laser head and controller were purchased from TeachSpin Inc., www.teachspin.com. All of the credit goes to Teachspin for providing the kit of components used in this experiment. For an introductory discussion of stimulated emission, see Lecture 36 beginning at06:13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTeKe81CT1o Here is the link for my entire course on "Semiconductor Devices for VLSI" that I taught on-line during Fall 2020 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmfHzApbF5dYnZTqPDsJj31mOQtD7vDT2 This is Lecture 42 or 77. I also made a playlist that includes only the Photonics themed videos from this and other courses: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmfHzApbF5daXURBtYBl-3LiUxuFKG43u #diodelasers #optoelectronics #GratingFeedback #optics
