Trench excavation should be done either utmost care as it is liable to collapse often due to narrower width.
Vertical excavation is allowed only upto 2 meter depth. Beyond that either we need to provide steps or excavate the sides with slant slope of 1H:4V
Also if the soil is soft, the excavation should be done in slant slope.
The excavated bottom should be plane and free from undulation and for this ramming and consolidation is required to be done at bottom.
