Why do I constantly speak about the Thyroid Cartilage, and seldomly, if ever about the Larynx? Isn't the position of the larynx important for singing? Solution: Speaking of the Larynx is too unspecific! The thyroid cartilage, the hyoid bone, and the cricoid cartilage are all part of the larynx. I don't encourage anyone to pull their hyoid bone down when singing, because that can lead to injury! So it has to be more specific than saying “Larynx”.
