Exploring growth and maturity and the impact on player identification and development The progression from childhood, through adolescence to adulthood is characterized by an individual experiencing growth, maturation, and development. These processes involve a player experiencing physiological, hormonal, psychological, neurological and emotional changes in a unique way to each child. These changes will happen at different times for each player and may affect football performance to a small extent in the physical, psychological, social and/or technical corners. This webinar clarifies some of the key considerations for understanding growth and maturity of young footballers from a four corner perspective and will provide ideas and discussion points as to how we may apply our understanding of this knowledge into our coaching practices and players’ games programme.
