As discussed in the previous video the Air handling unit or AHU is installed outside the serving zone and it supplies the conditioned air to the occupied spaces through a network of ducts and diffusers. On other hand, the FCU or Fan coil unit is installed in the room or area to which they are serving. FCU Fan coil unit uses a fan to take the indoor air and blows it over the cooling and heating coil and then supplies the conditioned air to the room. There are different types of FCU or fan coil units including Ceiling Concealed FCU, Celining Cassette FCU, wall mounted FCU and floor mounted FCU. FCU valve sizes are small so usually, they use a two-position or floating valve actuator for the cooling and heating valves. FCU or fan coil unit can be controlled either using a local thermostat without any connection to Building Management System or BMS or they can use a DDC controller to control the FCU or Fan coil Unit.
