This module focuses on designing a solution that is not only meaningful and impactful but also financially sustainable — a solution that delivers real value to customers while addressing a social or environmental problem. Module 3 takes you from identifying a problem (Module 2) to building and testing a solution. You will explore brainstorming methods, evaluate feasibility, design a sustainable business model, develop your Minimum Viable Product (MVP), and craft a compelling Unique Value Proposition (UVP). You’ll also examine examples of successful social enterprise models and learn how to assess whether an opportunity aligns with your mission, skills, and long-term goals. What You’ll Learn in Module 3 This module introduces the fundamentals of designing a social enterprise solution, including: • What a social enterprise solution is and how it blends financial sustainability with meaningful impact • How to brainstorm creative solutions without filtering or limiting ideas • Techniques such as mind mapping, free writing, role-playing, and group ideation • How to evaluate feasibility: practicality, impact potential, scalability, resources, and barriers • How to choose a solution that aligns with your mission, values, strengths, and goals • How to design a business model using the Triple Bottom Line • How to apply the Lean Startup process: build, measure, learn, pivot, or persevere • How to create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and use customer feedback to iterate • Real MVP examples from companies like Dropbox, Airbnb, Facebook, Groupon, and Zappos • How to define a clear and compelling Unique Value Proposition (UVP) • How to assess market opportunities, risks, barriers, and potential returns • How to evaluate whether your idea is worth pursuing and can create long-term impact This module also includes practical exercises such as brainstorming solutions, writing your UVP, and refining your business concept based on feedback. About This Course This course was previously hosted on a different platform, which the Center no longer supports. Because of that, the full course is now available for free on YouTube. You may hear references in the videos to earning a certificate of completion. Certificates are no longer issued, as the Center does not have a way to verify course completion.
