POS is the the form called Product of Sum terms where terms are called max-terms while SOP is the form called Sum of Product terms where terms are called min-terms. Furthermore, to elaborate it further, I have solved a Problem based on this important concept which is the Problem 4.32 part b from Book Digital Design by Morris Mano, 5th Edition.
