Lectures at the MFA - Black Ancestral Legacies in the Americas

Learn about the ways in which Africa is at once a point of origin and a myriad of real and imagined associations for many Black artists working in the Americas. Some artists self-consciously engage with what and philosopher Alain LeRoy Lock called “those ancestral arts,” while others practice African artistic traditions passed down through generations.
