We take a very short motif comprising three notes and consider the impact of harmonising in seven different ways. Starting on the tonic chord and treating the second note as a passing note/ passing tone we explore seven different possibilities for the successive chord, considering the impact of major chords, minor chords, extended chords and chords implying more colourful tonality.
