In 2009, Guy Turcotte, a Quebec cardiologist, killed his two children as they slept in their Piedmont home. His first trial rendered a verdict of not criminally responsible due to apparent mental illness. The prosecution would successfully appeal and overturn the NCR verdict. In December, 2015 he would be found guilty of second degree murder of his children.
