Please note that the content of this webinar is tailored for teacher educators and teachers who are engaged in facilitating the professional development of others. What is this webinar about? The session will introduce the HowtaMenta Community of Practice (CoP)—who we are, why we came together, and how the group is structured to support meaningful collaboration. We will explore what mentoring means in educational contexts, outline mentor skills, knowledge, behaviours and attributes, and briefly discuss how these can be developed through professional learning programmes. The session will also highlight established mentoring models and emerging approaches to mentoring shared within our community of practice. In the second part of the webinar, we will examine common mentoring challenges and how mentors navigate real-world constraints in their contexts. We will then outline the next steps for the community of practice as we move from discussion of theory to the actual practice of mentoring.
