So, in that case, how can he virtually take care of all the things? As with the time, it will become a more explosive area where Scrum Master will be frequently required to facilitate and deal with multiple remote team members. Firstly, we need to have clarity of the structure and the process, as the online mode structure will be different from the face to face structure. In a remote situation, an alternative structure can be an electronic task-force. Electronic Work Management Systems could be the slack channel where things will be continuously discussed, daily online interaction will be there where people can sync up, and know-how things are. It will also include the frequent Scrum ceremonies where everybody will be doing meetings through their online space. Generally, in the office, we have impediments like, the customer is not responding to a particular query which is blocking the team to move forward, etc. So, in that situation, they need a Scrum Master who can solve their problem. As a Scrum Master whether you are sitting in the same office or somewhere else, most of the interaction is going to happen in a digital mode only. Especially nowadays, even in the same building, you end up having an agreement, either on emails or over phone calls. Now while working remotely the impediments can be resolved in the same way. Another impediment example is, one of the team members is facing a low RAM issue on the laptop while upgrading the software. This impediment is delaying the delivery to the customer. Now the Scrum Master is needed. He will either write an email to the support team or raise a ticket to get it resolved. While sitting remotely then also the Scrum Master will handle the impediment in the same way. Is it also possible that the team can resolve its impediments on its own? Yes, why not! You can train your team on the pre-defined processes at the organization level and they don't have to wait for a Scrum Master to get it resolved. The smaller impediment like the RAM issue in a laptop can be resolved by the team member by just knowing the process of raising the support ticket and setting its severity. If the team has an impediment that can be resolved by themselves then the whole work process will become faster whereas if they will approach a Scrum Master for the same then that may cause some delay in resolving the issue.
