And I have a couple of commandments you can follow during interviews for your salvation. So if you are line up for interviews this might work or might not work for you hahaha. But still having a plan is better than nothing. No. 1 - You Shall Be Honest All The Time Trust is the foundation of everything we do. Without trust, nothing lasts for a long time. If you don’t have experience doing something you have to be truthful. Don’t claim other people's works as yours, because they will find that out. No. 2 - You Shall Accept Weakness and Use it As your Strength If you’re truthful about something, like your age for example if you’re old, and you’re truly honest about that. It cannot be used against you anymore. Every weakness you admit cannot be used against you in any interviews. If you admit you have no experience, they will not scrutinize you anymore for it. In fact, once you admit something it can open the eyes of the unbeliever. You have to be informed that during interviews, you’re selling yourself, and as humans we have flaws, and people who accept their flaws will be seen as confident, brave, and trusted. No. 3 - You Shall Not Claim Something you cannot prove. Never oversell yourself, especially if you don’t have any proof to back your claims. No. 4 - You Shall review the Subject ahead of the Interview If you already know the company that will interview you, reviewing them and spending time to learn about them is necessary in order for you to collect information that you can use. I’m good because I’m not the best freelancer. I’m good because I spend more time in preparation than my competition. No. 5 - You Shall not Use Other Peoples Work I cannot explain this further, but I just want to put it as one commandment during interviews. No. 6 - You Shall ask Questions about Them Most of the Time List down at least 5-10 questions you can ask during interviews. Asking questions makes you more in control during interviews, it makes them talk and you listen. The people who listened more tended to be more in control during conversations. No. 7 - You Shall Wear Proper Attire Even During Online Interviews Wearing proper attire even during “Online” interviews or discovery calls is a show of status. Also, it creates an impression that you are taking this call seriously. No. 8 - You Shall Have a good night's sleep two days before the Interviews I know this is not in the book, but did you know that people often buy something or hire someone not just because they are skilled or have experience? People will listen to you more if you have good energy. And sleep gives you that. No. 9 - You Shall Prepare your answer for the most important question… ”Can you please tell me About Yourself” No. 10 - Thou Shall not Make Expectations With less expectations, people tend to behave calmly and collected. Alright, so there you have it. That is the Ten Commandments for Interviews, hope you learned something from it.
