In AutoCAD, the Centerline tool is used to create centerlines or center marks for circles, arcs, or other symmetrical objects. Centerlines are essential for indicating the center point of circular or symmetric features, aiding in dimensioning and design communication. Here's how you can use the Centerline tool in AutoCAD: Activate the Centerline tool: To access the Centerline tool, you can type "CENTERLINE" in the command line and press Enter, or you can find it in the Dimension toolbar or the Ribbon menu. Select the object: After activating the Centerline tool, select the circle, arc, or other symmetrical object for which you want to create a centerline or center mark. Specify the centerline or center mark type: AutoCAD offers two types of centerlines: Centerlines and Center marks. Centerlines: Centerlines are long lines that extend through the center of the object, indicating its symmetry or circularity. They are typically used for objects like circles or arcs. Center marks: Center marks are small, short lines with outward-facing arrows that indicate the center point of an object. They are commonly used for circles or cylindrical shapes. Position the centerline or center mark: Specify the position of the centerline or center mark by clicking on a point along the object's center axis. AutoCAD will automatically generate the centerline or center mark according to the selected type. Adjust properties (optional): You can modify the properties of the centerline or center mark, such as the linetype, color, or lineweight, using the Properties palette. You can also adjust the size and appearance of center marks using the Center Mark tab in the Ribbon menu.
