Inkscape is free and open source vector graphic design & editing software! Learn more at https://inkscape.org To to cut / split / divide text in Inkscape 1.0, the text must first be converted into a path. After doing this, the text can no longer be added to or changed. Here are the steps: 1. Create some text, and make sure it is selected. 2. Path -- Object to Path 3. Object -- Ungroup 4. Path -- Union 5. Draw a path using the Bezier Tool, across the part of the text to be cut. 6. Make a duplicate copy of the cut path (ctrl+d) 7. Make a duplicate copy of the text (ctrl+d) 8. Select 1 cut path a 1 text (shift+left click each) 9. Use Path -- Difference OR Path -- Intersection depending on what side of the text you want to keep. Repeat this step to keep both sides. This operation will get rid of both selected paths, and replace it with a single path of either the parts where they intersect/overlap or the part where they do not.
