Are you a beginner gardener or just new to composting and want to learn how to make a compost bin at home? The first thing you need to begin composting is a compost bin. Trying to decide what kind of compost bin to purchase can be overwhelming. There are many choices of compost bins and they all have different pros and cons. However, what I recommend for backyard gardeners, even when talking about composting for beginners, is to just build your own compost bin. A homemade DIY compost bin can be less expensive than the store bought ones and will actually serve you better in your garden as you begin composting. By building your own compost bin you can be sure to make it large enough to hold everything you want to add to it. The pre-made barrel or drum type composting bins are often too small to hold everything you want to put in. The compost bin I make in this video is very simple and wont require any special skills and be easily built by beginner gardeners. Also, this compost bin costs less than $30 to build making it very cheap compared to most store-bought composting containers. A composting bin does not have to be complicated or complex to work properly. The main purpose of the compost bin is to keep everything together in a pile. Composting in the desert works really but a bin is a must to prevent your compost from being blown away by our high winds.
