Summer squash is always one of the best plants for new gardeners to grow. Squash and zucchini are high producing plants that are very easy to grow. They are great to share with friends and family since even a new inexperienced gardener can easily grow an abundance of squash. However, many new and even experienced gardeners make one mistake when growing squash and zucchini in a home garden. In this video I share one simple gardening tip for summer squash, that will help you to grow much better squash and zucchini that will be more delicious for you, and also more enjoyable for those you share them with. The secret to great summer squash is simple. Pick the fruit while it is small. By picking the fruit while it is small you encourage the plant to keep producing, plus the smaller fruit is much tastier and suitable for more recipes. When squash is allowed to grow to a large mature size, the fruit becomes soft inside and the seeds will get very large. This is not as good for eating and recipes. The smaller zucchini and squash plants are much better for eating. New gardeners and experienced alike should be sure to not let summer squash fruit grow really large.
