Summary

Full Transcript

What we perceive is not a direct experience of the stimulus hitting our eyes, but an interpretation added by our brain after much processing. Why doesn't it feel like someone is shrinking in size when they walk further and further away from us? How is it we recognize the same object from many different angles? Why do we see colors that aren't even there? In this video we learn about constancy effects. This is a lecture video for a university course in Cognitive Psychology taught by Dr. Brian W. Stone. You may wish to play it at x1.25 speed. As with anything taught at the undergraduate level the information here may be simplified, and at higher levels of study there is more nuance to all of it.
