It involves identifying critical systems, their criticality, and the acceptable downtime based on the cost of recovery or legal requirements. We also discuss the concept of Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD) which is made up of two variables, Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Work Recovery Time (WRT). Other key terms discussed include Mean Time Between Failure, Mean Time To Repair, and Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR).
