Career Development - What Is an INTRAPRENEUR ?? (And How it Can FAST TRACK Your CAREER!)

While we all have a generally good understand of what an ENTREPRENEUR is, what is likely less known and less "glamorized" is the concept of an INTRAPRENEUR. When you think entrepreneur, you imagine the blockbuster success stories of many founders of some of the newer large companies that dominate their respective industries (Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, etc). What DOESN'T get much attention are all the entrepreneurial ventures that are NOT so successful, and fail. While going down that path can yield great rewards, there's also incredibly high risk. GOOD NEWS is that you don't necessarily need to go down that path if you want to BE ENTREPRENEURIAL. You can take that mindset and bring it to an organization or company you're already with. The concept of being an INTRAPRENEUR essentially means you're acting like an entrepreneur within a larger organization. Like an entrepreneur, you're identifying opportunities or challenges to address, and trying to add value to improve the business with creativity and resourcefulness. The reward is that you learn, you build relationships along the way, and you establish a personal brand / reputation such that when future career advancement opportunities become available, you now have an advantage you didn't have before. Taking THIS approach of proactively challenging yourself to grow the business and go beyond what your job description entails, is the intrapreneur mentality.
