In this class, Deanna will show you the why and how of warping F2B. Deanna uses this method for specific warps, but it is a good warping method for almost all warps and it is the one she teaches to her beginning weaving students. There are some tricks that she has learned over the years and these will be shared with you so that you can incorporate this method into your weaving vocabulary. On the first day, Deanna will be showing you how to put on a mixed warp, this can be where you use up leftover bits of your yarns to make a wonderful project. She will have examples of scarves, shawls, and yardage that she has used with this technique. This will Include; how to use yarns with lots of texture, dye techniques to “tie” all the yarns together and winding a warp with many different types of yarn. On the second day, Deanna will show this technique with a standard “tea-towel” warp. This may be the one you will want to put on to learn these techniques. She will cover several ways that you can wind this warp on evenly and smoothly. Using F2B warping adds some variations to the warping, but also makes some parts easier. You will learn the best practices for how to use this method to make an easy to weave warp and a relaxed warping process. On the third day, Deanna will be looking at twill weaves. Twill is usually one of the first weave structures that we learn, but often we just jump past it to get to something more “exciting.” Deanna will show how we can expand on simple twills, using both four-shaft and eight-shaft looms, and how to add variation to your warp. Twills have infinite possibilities and could be a long-term study project. Twills make a wonderful “hand” on textiles and can be used for almost any project. Join Deanna in this class and add to your skills in warping and your joy in weaving.
