The pull toward the external is so strong that people are usually unaware of it. Just as you are reading this right now, inexplicable forces within you are pushing you to seek comfort and attach in some way to the material world. Whether we are focused on career, academia, hobbies, or even spiritual ambitions, as long as we are identified with our outward, physical activities of daily life, we will remain trapped in it, with barely any consciousness to be truly awakened internally.
