As a supplement to JSL, I'm making this series of shadowing videos as an excellent way to pick up better Japanese pronunciation and speaking skills Although not the same as JSL drills, shadowing can also be helpful in focusing on listening and speaking skills by repeating until it becomes an automatic response and you no longer are thinking about grammar. I also use JSL accented romaji along with the kanji. The beginner drills can be started from lesson 1 of JSL and though they are not very complex may use grammar from all 3 JSL books. I'll point this out sometimes but the focus is not on learning details about the grammar, but just on mimicking and understanding each individual interaction. This will give you some familiarity when the time comes to study it formally in the text. Level 1 - Get used to the sounds of Japanese with short greetings and conversations using basic grammar including ~no hou ga (ookii, etc.), ~mashou, ~shite kudasai, etc. 00:00:00 Intro 00:17 #1 00:27 #2 00:35 #3 00:41 #4 00:47 #5 00:53 #6 00:59 #7 01:05 #8 01:12 #9 01:19 #10 Introduction to JSL accent system: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1keXpKuo5aMyDRhUDZz_sqPWxOb-ApBSd/view?usp=sharing The audio is taken from just the beginner dialogs from the book, Shadowing Let’s Speak Japanese Beginner to Intermediate. I have retranscribed the audio and redone the translations since the original book had many mistakes in that area.
