Priority encoder is a combinational circuit in digital electronics which is a type of encoder. In this tutorial we will study a 4 x 2 priority encoder and we will formulate its truth table. We will then form the 2 output equations of Y0 and Y1 using a 4 variable Kmap which is an SOP KMap. Lastly using the 2 output expressions that we find from the kmaps, we will construct the circuit diagram of priority encoder.
