Sicilian Defense players aren't used to it as much, and the move f3 often confuses them. Players with white most commonly play 5.Nc3, defending the e4 pawn which is under attack by the f6 knight. The move f3 simply defends e4 while still leaving the option of c4 and the Maroczy bind open. If you are a c5 player, you should be aware of this line. I have surprised many players who were higher rated than I was simply because they had no idea this was a legitimate line and knew absolutely no theory.
