It's a setup you play rather than an opening. It's easy to start using it because once you learn where the pieces go, you can hardly go wrong! The Closed Sicilian is an opening that focuses on plans, ideas and patterns rather than long theoretical lines, and I think that's great if you need an easy repertoire with white against the Sicilian. It's not perfect, and Black is often equal, but White is the one starting a quick kingside attack, which is why many Closed Sicilian games end up with Black on the defensive.
