Rebooting is a pain, and in some organizations, downright tedious. Shuffling virtual machines between hosts in a cluster is even more tedious, and when it's time to install patches, that's what many administrators are forced to do. In this video, I check out QEMUCare, which aims to live-patch QEMU to avoid VM shuffling. In particular, we'll look at installing ePortal (which deploys the patches) and also an example scenario. *🕐 Time Codes* 00:00 - Intro 03:29 - Test environment overview, and minimum requirements for eportal 05:25 - Installing ePortal on a VM (required for QEMUCare) 11:53 - Setting up a feed in ePortal 13:07 - Creating an activation key 14:15 - Installing KernelCare 17:24 - Registering a server with eportal 18:02 - Vulnerability patch example *VIDEO SPECIFIC LINKS* 🐧 Blog post for this video: https://www.learnlinux.tv/?p=931 🐧 QEMUCare: ➡️ https://tuxcare.com/live-patching-services/qemucare/ 📖 ePortal Documentation: ➡️ https://docs.kernelcare.com/kernelcare-enterprise/ 📖 Deploying KernelCare: ➡️ https://docs.kernelcare.com/kernelcare-enterprise/#deploying-kernelcare 📖 CVE-2018-5683: ➡️ https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2018-5683 📖 Mailing list discussion for CVE-2018-5683: ➡️ https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2018-01/msg02597.html 📖 reproducer.c: https://pastebin.com/j9qzL77L # LearnLinuxTV Sites 🐧 Main site: ➡️ https://www.learnlinux.tv 🐧 LearnLinuxTV Community: ➡️ https://community.learnlinux.tv # About Me *🎓 Full Linux Courses* • Getting Started with Ansible ➜ https://learnlinux.link/ansible • Linux Essentials Certification Guide ➜ https://learnlinux.link/linux-essentials • Linux Crash Course ➜ https://linux.video/cc • tmux ➜ https://linux.video/tmux • vim ➜ https://linux.video/vim • Bash Scripting ➜ https://linux.video/bash • Proxmox VE ➜ https://linux.video/pve #LearnLinuxTV #Linux #LearnLinuxTV #Linux #QEMUCare
