Don't get me wrong: I am, indeed, a great fan of grammar. However, you really need to practice doing Spanish sentences if you want to reach a level where you can put those words and grammar rules together. The topic of this is a very basic approach in that direction. I have put together these few very simple questions and answers that relate to buying and selling dialog. I hope you will find it useful. COMPRADOR: Hola. ¿Cuánto cuesta este libro? BUYER: Hello. How much does this book cost? VENDEDOR: Cuesta doscientos (200) pesos. SELLER: It costs two-hundred (200) pesos. COMPRADOR: Buen día. ¿Cuánto vale esta mesa? BUYER: Good morning. How much does this table cost? VENDEDOR: Vale dos mil (2.000) pesos. SELLER: It costs two-thousand (2,000) pesos. COMPRADOR: Buenas tardes. ¿Cuánto cuesta un café? BUYER: Good afternoon. How much does a (cup of) coffee cost? VENDEDOR: El Expreso cuesta 20. El café americano, 25. SELLER: The Expreso costs 20. The "café americano", 25. COMPRADOR: Buenos días. ¿A cuánto está el kilo de manzanas? BUYER: Good morning. How much for the kilo of apples? VENDEDOR: Está a treinta (pesos) el kilo. SELLER: It is thirty (pesos) the kilo. COMPRADOR: Discúlpeme. Este pantalón tiene una falla. ¿Acepta devolución? BUYER: Excuse me. These trousers have a defect. Can you take it back? VENDEDOR: Sí, por supuesto. Necesito ver la factura. SELLER: Yes, of course. I need to see the invoice.
