This course shall focus on varied aspects of theory and practice of Interior Design, and develop skills to deal with diverse interior spaces. This course is very crucial as it focuses on trans-disciplinary research and research led design, emphasizing on the elements of interior design; sensory experiences; functional, emotional and aesthetic quotient of spaces; health and wellbeing; Physics of light; Chemistry of Colours; visual perception; and, attributes of human centered design. In the current decade which focuses on creativity; trans-disciplinarity and innovation, a course like this shall be very useful for a wide audience such as – Architects; Designers; Interior Designers; Interior Architects; Entrepreneurs; Interior Decorators; Craft Experts; Craftspersons; Artists; Collectors; Curators; Furnishers. Moreover, such a course is very much in line with the MoE’s initiatives like – NEP 2020; STIP; Creation of Design Hubs and DICs, where the focus is on Design, Visual Art; Creativity; and, Vocational Courses. There are very few courses on Interior Design, which are floated by IITs, and that may be accessed by a wider audience. This is a rigorous course, which can be accessed virtually by diverse audience, and shall prepare the participants for both academia and industry. It has multifold objectives: a) To understand the definition and scope of Interior Design, especially from a professional and industry perspective b) To investigate, document and disseminate the role of Interior Design in the creation and enhancement of Sustainable Built Environment through state-of-the-art literature; best studies and case studies c) To create awareness and exposure for diverse finishes, materials and specifications d) To showcase ecosystems by establishing links between designers; architects; researchers; artists; artisans; craftspersons; entrepreneurs; historians; and, individuals e) To develop new paradigms of pedagogy and practice in the field of Interior Design
