If you want to see one of these '2 Minute Tuesday' style videos... EVERY TUESDAY, then make sure to check out the PianoPig Academy: http://www.pianopig.com/join In this piano lesson, we learn how to use a major scale to improvise over a minor song! It's quite a simple process, all you need to do is find the relative major of the key the minor chord progression is in. To do this play the root note, then count up 3 half-steps. Whatever note you land on corresponds to the major scale you can use to improvise with. For example, if the song was in the key of A minor, you would play the note A. Count up 3 half-steps and land on the note C. This would mean the relative key of A minor is C major, meaning you can use the C major scale to solo over the A minor chord progression. What a simple and effective little trick!
