How To Provide A Reference For A Job Interview. How to provide a reference for a job interview can be nerve-racking and feel rushed when you’re on that job hunt. In my video, I walk you through the steps of how to format your reference and when to provide that list of references to the recruiter or hiring manager. Remember a reference is not always asked so make sure it's ready and up to date for when the potential employer is looking to validate your work history. **As promised here is a sample template for a reference document The header of the page should be consistent with your header of the resume References – Title to be centered at the top of the page Professional References or Personal References 1. Relationship of the reference (ex Manager, Co-worker, Professor, Mentor) 2. Name of the reference 3. Current position they hold 4. Contact details of your reference (phone and/or email) Be sure you have cleared this with your reference and advised them they could be contacted and what position you are applying for.
