We now take our first look at solving a second-order linear homogeneous recurrence relation by using the characteristic polynomial. The good (or bad) news is that if you are comfortable with solving a quadratic using any method, you can find the solution to the recurrence relation. In this video, I solve the quadratics via factoring, but you can use any method to get the same result. I've linked a few (of my OLD) videos for you if you struggle with factoring quadratics.
