Full Transcript

In the Mantis Boxing system, there is a well-known technique called “Xiao Kai Men” (Small Opening Gate). The movement begins with both arms drawing upward in a circular arc, rising from a crossed position in front of the chest to shield the head. At the same time, the body sinks slightly as the left or right leg lifts quickly to deliver a snapping kick with the instep. When the right leg kicks, the right forearm leads the upward block; when the left leg kicks, the left forearm takes the forward guarding position. Throughout the motion, the arms cross and circle smoothly, dissolving incoming force while coordinating with the rising kick. Although “Small Opening Gate” appears simple, it embodies the essence of Mantis Boxing. The circular upward block works like opening a “gate” to deflect the opponent’s attack, while the snapping kick follows immediately, forming an attack-and-defense combination. During practice, the hands and feet must work in harmony, with round arm arcs and swift leg action, to express the agility and tightly linked rhythm of Mantis techniques. Through repeated training, one develops coordination, sensitivity, and quick reactions, making “Small Opening Gate” both practical and iconic within the Mantis system. 你说:
