Welcome to 'Machine Learning for Engineering & Science Applications' course ! This lecture centers on the Central Limit Theorem (CLT) and its impact on using the Gaussian distribution in probabilistic models. The CLT states that the sum of a large number of independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) random variables tends towards a Gaussian distribution, regardless of the variables' original distribution. We'll use real-world examples, like cell phone camera sensors, to demonstrate how the CLT validates the use of the Gaussian distribution for modeling data in various applications. NPTEL Courses permit certifications that can be used for Course Credits in Indian Universities as per the UGC and AICTE notifications.
