World’s Largest Aircraft Graveyard: How to Store and Revive Planes | FD Engineering World’s Strongest Planes - Steel Beasts of the Sky: https://youtu.be/2DgDAOFyJhI Wrapped engines and glued windows: In the Spanish semi-desert near Teruel lies one of the world's largest aircraft parking lots. Entire fleets were flown to Teruel during the pandemic, including jumbo jets and even the Airbus A380. Now, they sit idle in Teruel's sand. Ten years ago, each A380 cost 400 million euros. Now, they suddenly have no value and are considered unsellable. Operator Tarmac Aerosave is the world leader for a sustainable business model helping aviation into a new era of circular economy. How to mothball airplanes and still keep them airworthy is a well-guarded secret. The technicians are packaging artists because the delicate machines must be protected from the weather and animals. Their knowledge on the engineering side will become even more valuable in the future when circular economy is gaining ground. Two Lufthansa pilots embark on an adventurous mission. Their goal is to retrieve a decommissioned A340-600. The aircraft is one of the oldest in the Lufthansa fleet. Now, due to high demand on the lucrative route from Munich to North America, it is set to fly again. It turn out to become an adventurous project. While the two pilots struggle to revive their beloved A340-600 amidst many challenges, a new hangar is being built in Teruel. From 2024, it will be able to accommodate the maintenance or scrapping of two A380s simultaneously. This is the first documentary produced for a TV network revealing the secrets of Teruel as Europe’s most important airfield for airplanes while waiting on their verdict to end up in heaven or hell. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary - Engineering Channel for free: https://bit.ly/FDEngineering Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #aircraftgraveyard ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ “Engineering: the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building and use of engines, machines and structures.” So says the Webster definition.
