Transparent parts of the top layer let the bottom layer show through normally. • Add 👉 The top layer brightens everything below it by adding its own brightness. Very bright top areas can blow the result straight to pure white. • Color 👉 The top layer tints the layers below by applying its hue and saturation while keeping the original brightness of what’s underneath. Great for color grading clips. • Color Burn 👉 The top layer aggressively darkens and increases contrast in the layers below. Dark parts of the top layer burn in deep shadows and rich colors. • Color Dodge 👉 The top layer dramatically brightens and bloats highlights in the layers below. Bright parts of the top layer can blow everything to white. • Darken For every pixel, the top layer shows only the darker value between itself and what’s below. • Darker Color 👉 The top layer replaces pixels below with its own color wherever its overall color is darker than what’s underneath (less aggressive than Darken). • Difference 👉 The top layer subtracts its colors from what’s below (or vice-versa). Identical colors turn black; great for spotting misalignments. • Divide 👉 The top layer divides the brightness of the layers below by its own brightness. Bright areas on top = big brightening; black on top = almost no change. • Exclusion 👉 Similar to Difference but softer. The top layer creates lower-contrast inversion; identical colors turn mid-gray instead of black. • Hard Mix 👉 The top layer forces the result into one of eight flat primary colors (full black, white, red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow) extreme posterization effect. • Hard Light 👉 The top layer acts like a harsh spotlight: its bright parts strongly brighten what’s below, its dark parts strongly darken what’s below. • Hue 👉 The top layer changes only the color tone of what’s underneath while keeping the original brightness and saturation. • Lighten 👉 For every pixel, the top layer shows only the brighter value between itself and what’s below. • Lighter Color 👉 The top layer replaces pixels below with its own color wherever its overall color is lighter than what’s underneath. • Linear Burn 👉 The top layer darkens what’s below more deeply than Multiply; combines the two layers and subtracts 1 (produces richer, darker blacks). • Linear Dodge 👉 Identical to Add. The top layer simply adds its brightness to what’s below — quick way to overexpose or create glowing effects. • Linear Light 👉 The top layer acts like Linear Dodge on its bright parts and Linear Burn on its dark parts (50% gray on top = no change). • Luminosity 👉 The top layer changes only the brightness of what’s underneath while preserving the original hue and saturation. Opposite of Color mode. • Multiply 👉 The top layer darkens everything below by multiplying the values (like stacking two slides). Pure white on top = no change, anything darker = darkening. • Overlay 👉 The top layer boosts contrast: its bright parts brighten what’s below, its dark parts darken what’s below. 50% gray on top is invisible. • Pin Light 👉 The top layer replaces bright areas below with Lighten and dark areas below with Darken. 50% gray on top is invisible. • Saturation 👉 The top layer controls how colorful or gray the result is, while keeping the original hue and brightness of what’s underneath. • Screen 👉 The top layer brightens everything below (opposite of Multiply). Great for glows, light leaks, and making things brighter without blowing out as fast as Add. • Soft Light 👉 The top layer acts like soft, diffused light: gently brightens highlights and gently darkens shadows. 50% gray on top is almost invisible. • Subtract 👉 The top layer subtracts its brightness from what’s below. Can quickly create very dark or negative-looking results. • Vivid Light 👉 The top layer combines strong Color Burn and Color Dodge depending on its brightness, very intense contrast boost. • Foreground Identical to Normal.
