For the majority of the Media companies in Greece and abroad, revenues are dependent on advertising and subscriptions. However, over the last years, Media turn to alternative revenue streams to ensure their survival. Professor Raju Narisetti, Director of the Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism of Columbia Journalism School, explains which are these additional revenue streams, how is the Media affected by the development of streaming platforms like Netflix, and why print journalism won’t die anytime soon. This interview was filmed during the new thematic cycle of Ideas Zone, Newsroom Essentials, which was designed by Columbia Journalism School. Professor Raju Narisetti, instructor of the module “Business of Journalism”, which twenty journalists from Greece attended, spoke about the modern business models the Media choose to secure their funding.
