Using cross contour lines to show the form of a muscle is a great way to study anatomy. But many newer students draw arbitrary curves without understanding the form they’re representing. I’ll use this biceps critique to show you my approach to solving cross contour. More student critiques at https://proko.com/anatomy When you’re drawing forms and cross contour, analyze if the form is going toward you or away from you. In some of these anatomy studies, I noticed attempts at cross contour with curvy lines without consideration of their direction and height. Also, the large simple form should be visible even when drawing the cross contour of the smaller parts. I’ll show you how to start with the cross contour of the primary form and then divide it into the secondary forms.
