n this video, I recap Round 4 of the Charlotte Open, an over-the-board game where I had the White pieces and opened with the Bird Opening. Early in the game, my opponent offered an exchange — rook for bishop — which would have given me material but at the cost of surrendering control over the most important feature of the position: the long diagonal. Instead of grabbing material, I chose to keep control and play the position patiently. The game eventually transitioned into a rook endgame, where precise technique and endurance were required to convert the advantage. This is a good example of what it often takes to win at the 2000+ level: understanding imbalances, resisting tempting material, and being willing to grind in the endgame. At the end of the video, I also wrap up the tournament results.
