Really quick, I just need to tell you that you are gonna see me play a barcord in this song, but don't worry, I'm gonna show you how to do it without any barcords as well. Don't panic. 3, 4, Baby, Wow, You're the only one Where I should know The set out, Go here, One, One, One, One, One, One, One, One, One, Girl in the tower, I'm preaching out, Please tell me what to do. I gave myself a little bit of a headache right now.

It also could be because right before I press record, I like, Pretty sure I beat the world record for the fastest any human being has ever eaten a banana. No, a regular, A regular banana. People of the world, friends and relatives, Red wine, supernova, By the one and only chapel, Roan, Dave, Chappelle, Roan, Featuring, Chappell Roan, Omn, Lead, Vocal, Standard Tuning, Capo on the fifth fret, For the tiny desk concert performance, She has Capo on the fourth fret, But we're going to do it the regular album key, Which is, Capo fifth fret. We're going to start off with an E chord.

Top string is open, Put your middle finger on the second fret of the second string From the top, Put your ring finger, Second fret, Third string from the top, Put your pointer finger, First fret, Third string from the bottom, Everything else is open. Should sound like this. It is time for us to learn the strumming pattern For most of the song. Starts off with, Down up, Would you just do that?

I know it's simple, But just go, Down up, Two, Three, Here we go, And down up, Two, Three, one more time, Down up, You got it, You're learning so quickly, You've come so far, After you go down up, There's going to be approximately two beats of rest, Which means two beats of silence. Here's what I strongly recommend you do. I recommend you tap the strings twice, Just to kind of keep the pace going And keep the rhythm, Rhythmating. You're going to go, Down up, Tap, Tap, Do it with me, Down up, Tap, Tap, Great work, Down up, One more time, Here we go, Down up, Plop, Plop, It's like a karate chopping motion.

I'm not sure if you knew this, But I, Stuart Alexander, Lehman Brown, Have never done any sort of martial arts training In my entire life. After you go down up, Tap, Tap, Then you're going to strum Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, One, two, three, Four, five, Those five strums, Listen, Just listen for a second, Shut up, Don't play, Just listen, We go, Down up, Tap, Tap, Up, Down, Up, Play it with me, Plop, Down up, Tap, Tap, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, One more time, Plop, Down up, Chop, Chop, Up, Down, Up, Down, Great, Just going to let that settle in for just a second. I'm trying to figure out If this song was written about me, Like, okay, It's called, Red Wine Supernova, And I Am Utterly Fascinated by Supernovas. In fact, So I've never told this to anyone before, This is true, I am not lying, I hope that On the fateful day When the end of my life arrives, I hope that I die By being in like the epicenter of a supernova.

Chances are slim That this will be possible, But I'm still, I just like, I hope I get like an email from NASA that says, Hey, join the wait list, We've had like, Amazing scientific breakthroughs In space travel and survival, Mechanisms and outer space. And so just sign up here, If you would like to be put on the wait list, To be destroyed In the center of a supernova, Last. I have not gotten that email yet, But I'm just kind of putting feelers out into the universe To see if I can manifest this death by supernova thing I have going on. But then, okay, Uh, okay, so that's, So it might be a, What was I talking about?

The song might be about me, For that reason. But it's called Red Wine Supernova. I don't really like red wine. I don't like white wine either.

I like the color red though. So we're going to call that one a wash. Let's learn the next part of the song. So so far, Do you remember what we did so far?

It was down up, tap, Tap, up, down, up, down, up, Play it, here we go. Down up, tap, tap, up, down, up, down, up, Great job. Two more beats of rest, And then you're going to strum up, down, up. So it's down up, rest, Rest, up, down, up, down, up, Rest, rest, up, down, up, One, two, play with me.

Down up, tap, tap, up, down, up, down, up, Top, up, down, up, down, up. The directions are important. If you're going, it's fine. I can go down up, down, up, down, up, down, Up, down, up, it's, it's not going to work.

You, you must, you must go down, up, rest, Rest, up, down, up, down, up, rest, Rest, up, down, up, Play it with me one more time. Down up, rest, up, down, up, down, up, Rest, up, down, up, Can we do it twice in a row? We can, great. I mean, may I go to the bathroom?

Yes, you may, but come right back to glass because you still need to finish your assignment. Two, three, four, down, up, rest, Rest, up, down, up, down, up, Rest, up, down again, down, up, Rest, up, down, up, down, up, Rest, up, down, up. That's the strumming pattern. We've got it.

Let's talk about the introduction to the song. Guess what? You've already played the introduction to the song. The introduction to the song is exactly what we just did.

We just play that strumming pattern on the E. Okay, so this song mentions magic. I like magic. So another check in the box for a song is written about me.

But they mentioned Bridget Bardot. And I don't know who that is. So maybe the song is not written about me. In the comments, do you think the song is about me?

Also, did you want to sign up for my newsletter? Because you can. I mean, may you want to sign up for my newsletter? You may.

Thank you very much. MarinMusic.com. Free Barcord Course. Free newsletter.

Free schedule of what song tutorials are coming out. Let's learn the verse to the song. For the verse, you play that strumming pattern on the E. chord one single solitary time.

And then you switch to an F sharp minor chord. This is that bar chord I was telling you about. But remember, I'm also going to show you the not bar chord version. Bar chord version first, pointer finger pushes on the second fret of the top string.

And then you take the rest of that finger and you mush down on the second fret of the rest of the strings. Now, that's actually not entirely true. Take a look at my finger. I'm pushing really hard on the top string with like the top part of my finger.

And I'm pushing really hard on the bottom three strings with like my knuckles and below my knuckle. But the second string from the top and the third string from the top. I'm not really too worried about it. I don't really care if I'm pushing on those.

Then take your ring finger, put it on the fourth fret of the second string from the top. Take your pinky, put it right below your ring finger on the third string from the top. So you have like the nail of your pinky pushes against your ring finger. Guys, I'm full of these bar chord tips.

Just go to MarinMusic.com, sign up for the free bar chord course. You're going to get all these tips and more. It's going to be so much fun. I have a blue background.

It makes my eyes pop. You're going to love it. This is the F sharp minor chord. You smash down as hard as you can.

Should sound like this. Oh, beautiful. But when you play it, it sounds like this. So I'll tell you what.

For the time being, I will show you the non-bar chord version. This is going to be an F sharp minor 7 chord. Doesn't sound exactly the same, but works great for this song. Put your pointer finger on the second fret of the top string.

Put your middle finger on the second fret of the third string from the top. Put your ring finger on the second fret of the third string from the bottom. Put your pinky on the second fret of the second string from the bottom. Strum all the strings.

F sharp minor 7. Slightly different sound. But it's going to get the job done. Now, here's what we want to try to do.

We want to play the strumming pattern once on the E. And then switch to the F sharp minor chord. Or the F sharp minor 7. Totally up to you.

No shame if you're in the F sharp minor 7. That's what I would do if I were you. God, I wish I could do this one. But no.

The power is the B of forced me to do this one. Stuart, you're spending, I know the song is simple, but you're spending way too much time talking about worthless crap. There's no power is the B. There's no new world order.

Or is there? No, there's not. Shut up. Ah.

Let's try it. Nice and slow. Strumming pattern once on the E. Strumming pattern once on the F sharp minor.

One, two, nice and slow. And down up, chop, chop, up, down up, down up, chop, chop, up, down up. Oh, there's no way. No, no, no.

Didn't you just say the song was simple? What is this crap? That chord change is literally impossible. What are you trying to do to me?

Well, first of all, it's not literally impossible. It's just very difficult. But yeah, I set you up for failure on purpose. So then now I could tell you the trick for switching chords.

Look at this. On the E, we're doing the strumming pattern. Down up, chop, chop, up, down up, down up, chop, chop, up, down. Lift your fingers up on that last strum up of the E chord.

Don't actually play the E chord. Lift up your fingers. Strum the open strings. Yes, you heard me correctly.

Strum the open strings as you get ready for the next chord. And then you come down on the next chord. So here's what we're going to do. We're going to play the strumming pattern once very slowly on the E chord.

Lift up on the last strum. And then just do one strum of the F-sharp minor. Don't worry about the strumming pattern on the F-sharp minor right now. I forgot about the most important tip for the F-sharp minor.

Take your middle finger and mash down on top of your pointer finger. So many tips. I didn't even tell you about my chicken wing tip. I didn't even tell you about so many things.

Ah, those are a stories for another day. All right, here we go. One, two, E chord. Here we go.

Down up, rate, rate, up, down, up, down, up, rate, rate, up, down, lift, down, down, down, down, down, down. Okay, I'll go steer it. That's still sucked, but it was a little bit better. The reason why I said rate, rate is because I was torn with I was going to say weight or rest.

We all know the pattern of life where you say stupid things and then you think about it for the rest of your life. All right, so that's going to take some repetitions before you get good at that switch. You do the regular strumming pattern on the F-sharp minor. Then we switch to an A-cord.

An A-cord is middle finger, second fret, third string from the top. Ring finger, second fret, third string from the bottom. Pinky, second fret, second string from the bottom. Try to mute the top string with your thumb if you can, but it's not the end of the world if you can't.

Hey, guys, look at this. If you were doing the F-sharp minor seven chord, all you have to do is get rid of your pointer finger and put your thumb up here to mute the top string. Look at that. That's too easy.

It's too easy. All right, you do the regular strumming pattern on the A-cord and then you go back to the E-cord. So we're going E F-sharp minor A back to E. And you're going to do that and lift up your fingers and strum the open strings trick for every single chord.

That's how you play the verse. Let's go ahead and play it three, two times in a row, one time. Let's do it one time. Come on, don't bite off more than your eyes can chew.

Here we go and down up rest, rest up, down up, down up, rest, rest up, down lift. F-sharp minor, two, three up, down, up, down up, two, three up, down lift A, two, three up, down up, down up, two, three up, down lift E, two, three up, down, up, down, up, two, three up, down and start it over. Now I have to mention this. Since the chord progression for the verse goes E F-sharp minor A E and then starts over, you have to remember that you end up playing E twice in a row.

Because look, it's E F-sharp A E E again F-sharp A E E again F-sharp A. You see what I'm saying? It's going to be really tempting to go E F-sharp A E F-sharp A E F-sharp A but that's not how the song goes. E F-sharp A E E again F-sharp A E E again B- again B- again B- B- B- B- Shap, shap, shap!

You're trying to make as many bad memories as possible and it's horrifying. That's the verse. For the verse you just do that three times. That's actually only kind of true.

I should tell you this. For the first part of the verse, it's just bass, not guitar. So if you want it to be a little bit more accurate, you could start off the verse going like this. Then go into the chorus.

All I did was I went top string open. Same rhythm as our strumming. Then you go to second fret on the top string to the same rhythm. B- shareholders Then up to the fifth fret.

B- sings Then you go into that. We'll talk through the whole song form. The order of all the parts in a minute. But let's learn the chorus now.

The chorus starts with a half-time feel. That's where rhythm of the strumming makes the whole song feel like it is slowed way, way, way, way. But it actually has them the tempo stays the same but strumming has a different feel Gonna go like this get the E chord ready. We're still doing the same chords We're just gonna go E F sharp A back to E, but listen to the strumming is going down Down down up down down down up one Two just listen again Flip down down down up down down down One more time don't play yet just listen down Okay, now you can play along with me down Down down up up down down down up one two One two here we go down Down down up up down down down up do it one more Time five six seven eight down Down up up down down up then you switch to the F sharp minor to the exact same strumming Then you switch to A to the exact same strumming can we try all three in a row?

Let's go for it one two three four Down Basically the same strumming pattern as Wait, it's like the same chord changes guys. This is very similar to I Damn You guys know that song is everybody's favorite giving us a coincidence There's sort of a little in a weird way a similar vibe between the two songs What's up by four non-blans? I wonder if that was a coincidence Interesting we did the E F sharp minor a and then we do go back to E, but we're gonna do something a little bit different listen We're gonna go On the E chord at the very end I went down down down up Totally the same strumming we've done so far But then I take my pinky and I cram it into the second fret of the third string from the bottom right below My ring finger and I strum up up to up in a row then get rid of your pinky and strum up down So that was like down Down down up pinky pinky up down up one To play just that part with me go down Down down up pinky pinky up down up That's the first chunk of the chorus. Let's play that whole first chunk E F sharp a E with the pinky thing one two in first part here we go Switch to F sharp minor Here it comes down Down up pinky pinky up down up then we go right back to the old strumming with the old chords So the second part of the chorus is exactly the same as the verse we just go We should probably practice going from the slow rhythm into that back into the faster So let's do the first part of the chorus one more time and then do the second part of the chorus one two Karate chop go now so You did a great job, guys.

Guess what? You're never going to believe it. We've learned the entire song. Let's talk through the song form.

Intro is just... That's the intro. Just the strumming pattern, one's on the E chord. I'm great.

Fantastic. Amazing. Then we go to the verse. Which, as we talked about, starts with the bass thing.

We go through that one time. Then we switch to the full on strumming with all the chords. And we play through that two times. Then we go into the chorus.

The chorus is the slow version through all four chords. Then we go into the fast version of the strumming. We go through that with all four chords. Then we go to the second verse.

Second verse is exactly the same as the first verse. Then we go to the second chorus. Second chorus is exactly the same as the first chorus. Then we go to the bridge of the song.

Guess what? The bridge of the song is exactly the same as the verse. You just do the regular strumming with the regular chords. Then we go to the third and final chorus.

So you do the slow strumming. And then you go to the fast strumming. And then you just stop. It finishes by going...

So you just play the strumming all the way through then you end it. Okay, let's do this. Let's play through. I don't want to play through it because it's all the same four chords the whole time through.

I'm going to get so bored. Let's do this. Let's do the intro. Then we'll do the first verse.

Then we'll do the first chorus. Then we'll end it at the end of the first chorus. Deal? Let's shake on it.

I don't like it when you tell me what to do. Don't tell me to shake on it. I'll shake on what I want to shake on. No, you said last night.

No, come on Stewart. One, two, here we go. I song the 실. BrandonDYarttard See this card?

Again! Get ready for the chorus! Here we go! Let's go!
