In this lecture we use our knowledge of solution for hydrogen atom to first obtain degeneracies of its energy levels and introduce some common spectroscopic notations. We then use Pauli exclusion principle together with the concept of "screening" to discuss the basic properties of the Periodic Table, in particular ionisation characteristics of different elements.
