The motor (descending efferent fibers) system is divided into upper motor neuron (UMN) and lower motor neuron (LMN). The UMN is divided into pyramidal tract and extrapyramidal tract. The pyramidal tract is subdivided into corticospinal tract vs corticobulbar tract…Pyramidal centers include primary motor cortex (Broadmann area 4), crus cerebri (cerebral peduncle) of the midbrain, basilar pons, and pyramids of the medulla. Extrapyramidal centers include premotor area (Broadmann area 6), red nucleus of the midbrain, tectum of the midbrain, vestibular nuclei of pons, and the inferior olivary nucleus of the medulla.
