In the 2nd module of the +Including Education course, the topic of disability is addressed. As sub-themes, this module presents: - What is Impairment and Disability? - Disabled Person or Person with Disability ? Ways of Thinking about Disability - Charity Model - Medical Model - Social Model Relationship Between Difference and Labeling - Do labels lead to stereotyping? - Does labeling bring comfort to children and families? - Can labeling contribute to individualized and inclusive education? Relevant Standards & Human Rights School is for All - Access - Emotional and Psychosocial Protection - The educational needs of children with disabilities By taking this module, trainees will achieve the following goals: 2.1 Understand and identify the correct terminology associated with disability; 2.2 Understand the various approaches inherent to disability, as well as recognise the contribution of the social approach to the development of an Inclusive School; 2.3 Understand the processes of labeling and categorization; 2.4 Identify and recognise pedagogical strategies based on international guiding principles. 2.5 Recognize access and psychosocial protection as key factors for an Inclusive School.
