Entre 1945 e 1951 a Itália apresentou um novo movimento cinematográfico muito importante, que ficou conhecido como Neorrealismo. O movimento criou uma abordagem diferente para a produção de ficção. Além disso, essa abordagem teve uma influência enorme no cinema em outros países, principalmente a França e o Brasil.
